Image Displays for Websites

Images provide you with powerful ways to capture attention and illustrate your message. Sometimes, for example, it is useful to be able to swap images:

Pass the mouse over this image to swap it for another (useful for "before and after" or even "after and before"!)

However, you should always bear in mind that if you have a lot of images, especially if some of them are large, your web pages could take an unacceptably long time to download.

A common solution to this problem is to provide small, thumbnail pictures which visitors can see enlarged if they wish. A couple of examples are shown below.

If you like, you can dispense with thumbnails altogether and just use text to prompt for the image. This has the advantage, in theory at least, of reducing web page loading time, but is less appealing visually:
